Stour Singers - 40th Anniversary Concert

On the evening of May 9th, the choir presents a very special anniversary concert in St. Edmund’s Church, Shipston.

The programme features Beethoven’s Mass in C, composed in 1807, at the height of his reputation and inventiveness, and Mendelssohn’s Lauda Sion, written in 1846 to a poem written in the 13th century by Canoness Juliana of Liege, to celebrate the Feast of Corpus Christi.

Accompanying the choir will be The Cherwell Orchestra, and the quartet of soloists features prominent national and international singers: soprano Ruth Holton, mezzo-soprano Shelley Coulter-Smith, tenor Nathan Vale, and bass-baritone Darren Jeffery.

Tickets for the concert are £12.50, but free to accompanied children. Please contact Yvonne Ridley, the choir’s co-ordinator, telephone 01789 269587.

Breeze Bike Ride

A Breeze Around Shipston

Since the first Breeze Ladies’ Bike Ride in December 2013 we have done 14 bike rides of varying lengths and durations.  Over the (nearly) 18 months we have ridden the beautiful country lanes on routes 360° around Shipston.

18 ladies, so far, have taken part, some cycling more frequently than others; we are always happy to have new ladies come along.  Whether you need to be more active for health and fitness reasons or just enjoy cycling anyway, do join us.  We always wait for everyone and enjoy chatting as we go.  Our half way coffee stops have been as diverse as Ettington Park Hotel, the Feldon Valley Golf Club and a DIY scone and flask at a strategic parking place!

Warmer weather is on the way now, so do get in touch for the next ride on Saturday 9th May.  We meet in the free car park opposite The Old Mill by the Bridge at 9.00am.
