Soon after the Rotary Victorian Evening, Santa and his elves spent four evenings touring Shipston on his sleigh, battling gale force winds and torrential rain. The following Saturday more elves were collecting in Shipston. Despite the weather and the very great pressure on family budgets, the people of Shipston donated almost the same amount as last year.
Thankyou so much, your support is vital to Rotary's work. Joy was short-lived. Sue and Andy, managers of the Hotel where Shipston Rotary meets, announced their departure on a world tour, from which they 'might not come back'. President Nigel Willis thanked Sue for the marvellous way Rotary had been looked after almost since the refurbished Halford Bridge reopened, presented her with a bouquet and wished her and Andy all the very best. The shades hide the tears while the headgear might have been worn by that Innkeeper in Bethlehem 2,000 years ago. Sue's sister takes over as manager.
