Shipston Post Problems

postal

It would appear that Shipston has had it's frontline postal delivery service cut by 50% which takes our four postmen down to two.  This has caused a serious backlog in delivery.  There have been reports that parcels and letters are not arriving for weeks at a time.

Have you been having any problems?  Have you received everything on time through the post?  Do you know of anyone that has been having problems with delivery?  Let us know below....

Has anyone else noticed that our postal deliveries are getting later and later. One delivery last week arrived after 4 pm. Second class service for ever increasing first class price. Perhaps if they cut down on the amount of rubbish delivered(all of which goes straight to recycling in our house) we might get postal deliveries at a decent time.

I read this on the BBC website today:

"Midlands regional operations director Paul Jobling said operational changes in Warwickshire were "part of the modernisation of Royal Mail".

He said: "It is vital that we place our business on a more efficient and sustainable footing for the future."

This is putting their business on a 'more efficient and sustainable footing?" Fairly daft comment to make.

Well I just received a Christmas card posted on the 9th December!! Merry Christmas!! That's over a month for a card to arrive from the UK! I feel sorry for those running a business in Shipston and having to rely on the postal services!

Just a quick one, and a word of warning. I ordered some items off Amazon and they arrived on the Saturday...of course they were meant to have arrived on the Thursday, so! Don't pay the extra £5 or so for guranteed delivery by 1pm at the moment, as I am not sure it will arrive if Royal Mail are used.

Just a quick update here. I managed to speak to someone from Royal Mail (unfortunately he wasn't in a managerial position otherwise I would probably still be stood their complaining!). He said that just before Christmas (you know, the really busy time of year) the management at the Stratford Office (near Jewsons) decided to move the office around. What a great time to choose to do that. What with people being laid off and people leaving out of disgust, they are short staffed. He admitted there is a massive postal backlog and also that the postmen/women are only allowed to be out on their rounds for a certain amount of time. In other words, they are not being allowed the time to deliver more post than they are at the moment. In addition to this, for those of you that have not yet fallen off your chair reading this in disbelief, the management team are thinking of putting the rounds back to how they were a couple of months ago. The key problem with this great idea is that they won't have the number of staff to be able to execute this. I understand the Stratford MP has started to make enquiries as this is affecting a region not just us here in Shipston.

I ordered a number of items off amazon on the 16th December and I still have not received the goods, despite amazon stating that the goods have been dispatched. One of these items was a Christmas present! My rubbish has also not been collected now for over a month!! What is happening to Shipston??!

I cannot believe how bad our postal delivery has become. This started long before the bad weather (so they can't use that old excuse). Reading the comments and having spoken to other people in Shipston, we are in the same position in not having items delivered on time - we are often alterted to things being despatched in the post and they often take up to two weeks to arrive. How can an organisation fail on so many levels. We know the postmen and women are unhappy about the changes that have been made and has caused a number to leave their jobs due to this and unrealistic demands. Of all the organisations in the UK, they are best placed to communicate difficulties to us - they have our addresses - even if it did turn up two weeks late. If a service is purchased then it should be met. The management of RM should be totally ashamed of themselves.

I Think it is an absolute disgrace that in Clark close in Shipston , we have not recieved any mail since Fri the 17th Dec. The Royal mail is putting the cost of a first class stamp up to £0.46p in the new year , asking for more money when they cant deliver on the face value of the current first class stamp. do we flog a dead horse or do we use UPS , FEDEX & let the the horse die in peace. Wake up RM management, you may not have a job in 2011 if you dont sort it out

It's all gone wrong since the Post Office banned the postmen from using bicycles and insisted that they push trolleys around. Our postman, also has had to do an extra round. I suspect that the management consultants used by the Post Office never actually tried delivering post! It took 3 weeks for a parcel to be delivered from Bristol first class in November. Lack of post over the busy Christmas period is unforgiveable - I did notice UPS and Fedex vans when there was no post office deliveries to be seen. The message is to use couriers rather than the Royal Mail. The extra money paid for 1st class delivery means nothing.

Shipston on Stour. Magazine subscriptions are beng delivered 7-10 days late. Post received generally up to a week from posting. This is before the freeze and snow problems. No post since last Saturday"s snow (Dec 18th).

I have not seen any postman delivering on our estate since Thursday when I asked at the post office I was told that they were delivering every other day and doing the best they can which really is not good enough as it now has been four days.

I agree. I have noticed a reduction in postal deliveries and slow delivery (up to a week later than might reasonably be expected) for a month or more
