Changes ahead for Forum: Rising costs have forced the Town Council to look at the way we print our monthly Forum newsletter. We have not increased the amount we charge in council tax for three years - but the cost of using our large photocopier have risen enormously. Following a review of the options, we have decided to send Forum to a nearby printer, who have provided us with not only the cheapest quote, but it's also cheaper than we could ever do ourselves. The next Forum will be the first produced this way, and if all goes well we will continue to get it printed, rather than photocopy it ourselves.
At the same time, Bob Webster, who has delivered Forum for us brilliantly in recent times, is not able to continue with this. We are grateful for all the work he and his team have put in, and a big 'Thank You' must go to them. We are investigating options for long term delivery (and we are advertising this contract in the next Forum), but in the mean time we have asked the Herald group to deliver with Midweek. This will save us about £1800 pounds a year if we continued with them. There are problems with this, though - they don't deliver to about 180 homes in Shipston and we will be asking various places in the Town Center to take a few extra, and if you don't have one delivered you will be able to collect a copy from Clark House.
Lastly, we are dropping commercial advertising from Forum - it raised very little money, and we want to use every inch of the limited space we have for news and views from Shipston - which is what most people have told us they would like.
You can contact any of your Town Councillors (Click Here) or the Town Clerk (Click Here). Remember, although Forum is delivered to you at no cost - you pay for it through your council tax. It's your newsletter, let us know what you think!
