Stratford District is currently watched over by 87 CCTV cameras, six of which are in Shipston. Sufficient funds are not currently available to offer a 24/7 live monitoring service, which would mean employing at least five operators. Parish representatives across the district may be asked to contribute to the cost of the service. Shipston Town Council is concerned about spending money on a service so heavily focused on Stratford Town Centre and recognises that there are questions over the effectiveness of CCTV.
The Town Council is now asking residents for their views on whether investing in CCTV is something you want your money spent on.
