Police Closures

policelights

All Warwickshire police stations could be shut to the public late at night under plans to save money.

They would be shut after 2200 BST, with five rural stations being closed to the public completely, under the proposals.

Alcester closed to the public this week and Bedworth, Kenilworth, Shipston-on-Stour and Southam would not be open to people, BBC Midlands Today said.

The force said the system would provide a more efficient and effective service.

'Open access'

Warwickshire Police needs to make savings of £14m even before the government announces its cuts, BBC Midlands Today correspondent Peter Wilson said.

The reporter added he had seen documents with the rural stations named earmarked for possible closure.

Pupils, staff and the wider community have been celebrating the result of Shipston Primary School's recent Ofsted inspection.

Shipston-on-Stour Primary has been awarded 'Outstanding', the highest possible grade, by government inspectors placing it in the top 6% of primary schools in the country.
Headteacher Christian Hilton said: "I would like to congratulate and thank the whole school community, including staff, pupils, parents, governors and the town for their support. Shipston is a truly unique town with a strong community that we should be proud of. Ofsted has recognised the contribution that our local community makes and the future looks very promising for the town with Shipston High School being graded good with many outstanding features earlier in the year."

Police Warning

E-mail

FOOTBALL fans in Shipston on Stour are among those being urged to stay sensible during the World Cup.

Warwickshire Police is increasing patrols across the county to counter potential anti-social behaviour.  Superintendent Martin Samuel said: "We welcome any fans who want to come into the towns to watch the matches and enjoy themselves

"During previous tournaments there has been very little trouble in the county and we are expecting a similar mature approach by fans during this World Cup.

"However we are not complacent and both our partners and ourselves are intent on making this an enjoyable time for all residents, and visitors to our towns.

"The vast majority of people are well behaved, have a sensible approach to alcohol and will leave the towns having had a good night out. But where any person attempts to cause trouble, officers will move swiftly to stop them.
